Andrew I. Gavil
Andrew I. Gavil is a professor at Howard University School of Law and senior counsel at Crowell & Moring LLP. From 2012 to 2014, he was director of the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) Office of Policy Planning.
He received the 2004 Warren Rosmarin Award for Excellence in Teaching and Service and in 2006 a Special Appreciation Award for his work as faculty advisor to the Howard Law Journal. Earlier in his career, he practiced antitrust law and litigation with law firms in Chicago and Denve.
Gavil is a 1978 graduate of Queens College of the City University of New York, where he received his bachelor's magna cum laude, and a 1981 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Law.
