Allan Fels
Allan Fels is professorial fellow at the University of Melbourne Law School and was chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) from 1995 to 2003. He was previously chair of the Prices Surveillance Authority from 1989 to 1992 and of the Trade Practices Commission from 1991 to 1995.
He also served as foundation dean of the Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG) from 2003 until 2012. He was previously a senior lecturer of economics at Monash University, later serving as director of the Graduate School of Management from 1984 until 1991, and was also a research fellow in the Department of Applied Economics at the University of Cambridge.
From 1996 to 2003, he co-chaired the OECD Trade and Competition Committee. He was made a member of the Order of Australia in 2002, the same year he was ranked by The Australian Financial Review as Australia's third-most-powerful figure.
Fels graduated in economics (first class honours) and law from the University of Western Australia and earned his PhD in economics from Duke University.
